The mission of the NAFP and NAFP Foundation is to encourage and assist men and women in preparing and establishing themselves in family practice. The Foundation’s Dr. Lisa Yao Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to deserving medical students in Northern and Southern Nevada. The Foundation also provides support for activities of the Family Medicine Interest Groups in Las Vegas and Reno. Other philanthropic activities include coordinating the Tar Wars program, where volunteer physicians go out to 4th and 5th grade classrooms and teach students the importance of staying tobacco-free, and provide them with the tools to make positive decisions regarding their health. In the past eight years, the NAFP Foundation has been responsible for Tar Wars being presented to over 80,000 students in Nevada. Questions?
